Kupwara, Jan 30 (JKNS): In a remarkable display of dedication and inter-departmental coordination, the Karnah Administration successfully carried out a late-night emergency rescue operation to evacuate three critically ill patients, including a child, from snowbound areas of Karnah to GMC Handwara amid extreme winter conditions.

The operation was led by Tehsildar Karnah, Mohd Amin Bhat, whose timely leadership and swift decision-making played a crucial role in ensuring the safe transfer of patients. Medical arrangements were efficiently managed under the supervision of BMO Tangdar, Dr. Arif Khawaja, who ensured the patients were stabilized at SDH Tangdar before the challenging overnight journey began.

The rescue mission was executed with strong support from the Indian Army, JK Police, Health Department, District and Sub-Divisional Administration, and Beacon 109 RCC.

The Beacon teams cleared heavy snow at Sadhna Pass, allowing emergency vehicle movement after nearly a week of road closure. JK Police personnel escorted the ambulances to ensure security and smooth passage through hazardous terrain, while health officials monitored the patients throughout the journey.

The ambulances departed late at night and, after navigating treacherous roads and severe weather, safely reached GMC Handwara in the early morning hours. This mission marked the first successful crossing of Sadhna Pass since prolonged snowfall blocked the route, highlighting the commitment of frontline workers and authorities to saving lives despite adverse conditions.

Residents of Karnah and Kupwara have expressed deep appreciation for the administration, medical teams, security forces, and all departments involved. The operation stands as a strong example of efficient governance, humanitarian service, and collective responsibility, reinforcing public trust in emergency response systems and showcasing the spirit of unity and resilience in times of crisis.
