Kokernag, Jan 21 (JKNS): In view of prevailing winter conditions and the likelihood of snowfall, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kokernag has imposed a ban on parking of vehicles on National Highway-244 and other connecting roads to ensure smooth snow clearance and uninterrupted movement of essential services.

An order issued by SDM Kokernag, Prinee Kumar (IAS) as per news agency JKNS, states that during previous spells of snowfall, vehicles parked on highways, road margins and connecting roads created serious obstacles in snow clearance operations, leading to delays in restoration of road connectivity and inconvenience to the general public.

“To avoid such situations and to facilitate timely snow clearance as well as smooth movement of emergency and essential service vehicles, it is hereby directed that no vehicle shall be parked on public roads or road margins,” the order reads.

The order further directs all vehicle owners to park their vehicles only at designated parking places or within private premises. Any vehicle found obstructing roads will be removed and appropriate action will be taken under law.

The concerned Station House Officers (SHOs) have been asked to ensure strict enforcement of the directive.

The order has come into force with immediate effect and shall remain operative until further orders, the SDM said. (JKNS)
