Srinagar, JKNS: A sharp cold wave continued to grip Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday as minimum temperatures dipped below freezing at most places across the Kashmir region and parts of Jammu. Sonamarg recorded the lowest temperature in Kashmir at –6.2°C, while Gulmarg and Pulwama settled at –5.5°C each. Srinagar registered a minimum of –3.4°C, with the city airport recording –4.4°C.
In the Jammu region, Banihal and Bhaderwah witnessed sub-zero temperatures at –1.6°C and –1.2°C respectively, while Jammu city recorded a relatively warmer 7.4°C. In Ladakh, intense cold conditions prevailed with Hanle emerging as the coldest place overall at –13.3°C, followed by Leh at –9.0°C.
According to Kashmir Weather, the prevailing cold conditions are likely to persist, prompting residents to take necessary precautions.
