Crescent Not Sighted: Shaban Al-Mubarak to Begin on January 21; Grand Mufti of J&K

Jammu, Jan 19 (JKNS): The office of the Grand Mufti of Jammu & Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, Chairman of Religious Affairs and the Muslim Personal Law Board, on Monday announced that the crescent moon for the holy month of Shaban Al-Mubarak was not sighted today (29th Rajab 1347H, corresponding to Jan 19, 2026).

Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam in a statement as per news agency JKNS said that, the crescent moon for the holy month of Shaban Al-Mubarak was not sighted today (29th Rajab 1347H, corresponding to Jan 19, 2026).

Accordingly, the first day of Shaban will be observed on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

In his message, the Grand Mufti extended heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the entire Muslim Ummah and particularly to the people of Jammu & Kashmir on the occasion of the sacred month. He prayed that Allah Almighty blesses all humanity with the bounties, mercy, and spiritual blessings of this holy month.

The announcement was issued from the Secretariat of Islamic Jurisprudence, Jammu & Kashmir. (JKNS)
