Ram Niwas Sharma IAS, Avny Lavasa IAS Among Four Re-designated After IAS Promotions in J&K

Jammu, Jan 12 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday re-designated several IAS officers of the J&K segment of the AGMUT cadre following their promotion to higher scales of the Indian Administrative Service by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

According to Government Order No. 43-JK(GAD) of 2026, dated January 12 as per news agency JKNS, the re-designations were effected after the officers were promoted to the Higher Administrative Grade, Super Time Scale and Selection Grade and assumed charge of their respective posts on January 1, 2026, as per MHA orders issued on December 19, 2025.

As per the order, Mr. Ram Niwas Sharma, IAS (AGMUT:2010), has been designated as Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, School Education Department, while Ms. Avny Lavasa, IAS (AGMUT:2013), has been designated as Secretary to the Government, Transport Department.

Besides, Mr. Sanjeev Verma, IAS (AGMUT:2001), has been designated as Principal Secretary to the Government, Election Department, and Mr. Prasanna Ramaswamy G, IAS (AGMUT:2010), as Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Tribal Affairs Department.

The re-designations have been ordered in pursuance of promotions approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs and issued by the General Administration Department of the Union Territory. (JKNS)
