Sub-Zero Temperatures Continues In Kashmir, Pulwama Coldest at -6.5°C

Srinagar, Jan 12 (JKNS): Sub-zero minimum temperatures continued to prevail across most parts of the Kashmir Valley and Ladakh region, while Jammu division witnessed relatively milder night temperatures.

Data compiled by Kashmir Weather as per news agency JKNS, In Kashmir region, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of -2.4°C, while the lowest temperature was observed at Pulwama with -6.5°C, followed by Shopian at -5.2°C.

Other notable readings included Anantnag (-3.9°C), Kupwara (-3.7°C), Qazigund (-3.6°C), Awantipora (-3.6°C), Baramulla (-3.4°C), Gulmarg (-3.4°C) and Srinagar Airport (-3.4°C).

Sopore recorded -4.3°C, Zethan Rafiabad -4.5°C, Beerwah Budgam -3.7°C, Budgam -2.6°C, Bandipora -2.3°C, Pampore -2.0°C, Kokernag -1.8°C, Kulgam -1.6°C, Ganderbal -1.4°C, while Sonamarg settled at -2.4°C, the data showed.

In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded a minimum temperature of 3.4°C, while Jammu Airport recorded 2.9°C. Other areas recorded comparatively higher minimums, including Banihal (5.1°C), Katra (5.0°C), Batote (4.3°C), Kathua (4.8°C), Doda (4.8°C), Poonch (4.8°C) and Kishtwar (6.1°C). Bhaderwah recorded -1.2°C, while Samba (0.7°C), Rajouri (0.8°C) and Udhampur (1.2°C) also experienced chilly conditions.

Meanwhile, Ladakh region continued to remain in the grip of intense cold, with Hanle recording the lowest minimum temperature at -15.0°C, followed by Leh (-10.8°C), Kargil (-9.3°C) and Nubra Valley (-8.4°C).

Weather experts have advised residents to take necessary precautions as cold conditions are likely to persist in the coming days. (JKNS)
