Srinagar, Jan 8 (JKNS): The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued strict directions restricting the role of Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), warning that officers vested only with DDO powers must not carry out transfers or other administrative functions beyond their mandate.

According to an official order issued by the Director School Education Kashmir, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS stated that, it has come to the notice of the authorities that several officers holding only DDO powers are effecting transfers and undertaking administrative actions without having the requisite authority.

The order clarifies that officers holding charge as DDOs in an additional capacity shall strictly confine their role to drawing and disbursing salaries and handling other authorised financial matters within the prescribed limits. They have been explicitly barred from exercising any administrative powers, particularly those related to the transfer of staff.

The Directorate has warned that any violation of the order will be taken seriously and will invite disciplinary action under the applicable service rules. (JKNS)
