Srinagar, Dec 11 (JKNS): The Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, has appointed Prof. Dr. Syed Sajad Ahmad Geelani as the new Head of the Department of Clinical Hematology.
The appointment comes following the superannuation of former Head of Department, Prof. Javid Rasool Bhat, who retired on November 30, 2025.
Prof. Geelani, a resident of Chamkote, Karnah, has been serving as a senior faculty member in the Department of Clinical Hematology.
He is widely respected for his academic excellence, clinical expertise, and unwavering commitment to patient care. His elevation to this key position has been welcomed across the medical fraternity in Kashmir.
His family from Chamkote is also known for producing many other dignified personalities who have served the nation in high-ranking positions, adding to the pride of the region.
The local population expressed immense pride and joy over his appointment. They extended warm felicitations to the family, saying that this achievement is a matter of honour for the entire community. They remarked that Dr. Geelani’s success reflects his hard work, dedication, and professional integrity, which have earned him a distinguished place in one of the premier medical institutions of Jammu & Kashmir.
According to the official order bearing number SIMS 807 (PER) of 2025 and dated December 8, 2025 Prof. Dr. Syed Sajad Ahmad Geelani has been directed to assume charge of the department with immediate effect. (JKNS)
