Srinagar, Dec 6 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has formally written to the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC), urging it to postpone the upcoming JKAS Preliminary Examination in view of “extraordinary circumstances” affecting thousands of aspirants across the Union Territory.

According to the communication accessed by news agency JKNS, the Chief Minister highlighted that severe disruption in air services over the past several days has triggered widespread travel chaos, making it difficult for candidates to reach their examination centres on time.

He further pointed out that the delay in the government’s proposal on age relaxation an enabling provision granted multiple times in previous years has compounded the stress for aspirants. “Together, these factors have placed unprecedented mental and logistical stress on the competing candidates,” Omar wrote.

Emphasizing fairness and equal opportunity, the Chief Minister urged the Commission to “take cognizance of the prevailing circumstances” and defer the examination by a reasonable period purely in the interest of the candidates.

“I am confident that the Commission will take a compassionate and balanced view of the matter in larger public interest,” the letter reads.

The JKAS Prelims Examination 2025 is scheduled to be conducted by JKPSC shortly, even as both travel disruptions and uncertainty over age relaxation continue to worry aspirants across J&K. (JKNS)
