Sopore, Nov 21 (JKNS): In its continued action against narcotics, Sopore Police today apprehended a drug peddler during naka checking at Shiva-Dooru Crossing, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Warpora.
In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS said, A suspicious individual attempted to flee on noticing the naka party, but the alert team acted swiftly and apprehended him tactfully on the spot. During his personal search, charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.
The accused has been identified as, Shabir Ahmad Ganie, S/O Ghulam Mohammad Ganie, R/O Dangerpora Sopore.
In this regard, Case FIR No. 258/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore. Further investigation is underway to identify the source, supply chain and forward linkages of the accused, it reads.
Sopore Police reiterates its commitment to maintaining zero tolerance towards drug peddling and urges the public to support efforts aimed at eradicating the drug menace from society. (JKNS)
