Srinagar, Nov 17 (JKNS): A large number of Kashmiri Pandits on Sunday participated in the send-off ceremony of a special cycling religious yatra from Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib in New Delhi to commemorate the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji.

The event marks the beginning of a week-long series of programmes being held across the globe in honour of the ninth Sikh Guru.

The cycle tour, led by Manjit Singh GK, Senior Vice President of the Cycling Federation of India, commenced from Gurudwara Sis Ganj on 15 November and will conclude on 20 November at Gurudwara Guru Ka Mahal near Amritsar. The yatra aims to spread awareness about the supreme sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, remembered as “Hind Di Chadar”.

Speaking to the media, Ravinder Pandita, President of the All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), said that the Kashmiri Pandit community holds deep reverence for Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. “We owe immense gratitude to Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. The global celebrations this year were initiated from the Guru Teg Bahadur Gurudwara at LoC Teetwal on 1 September,” he said.

He further highlighted that the historic gurudwara at Teetwal burnt during the 1947 tribal raids—was rebuilt and rededicated in 2023 on the same land where it originally stood, alongside the Sharda Temple. The site, located on the northern tip of India along the LoC, has since become a symbol of communal harmony and heritage revival.

AIKS has also issued directives to its affiliates in Ambala, Ludhiana and Amritsar to welcome the yatra and participate in the commemorative events. A Kashmiri Pandit delegation from Faridabad, dressed in traditional attire, also attended the send-off ceremony to pay homage to their revered saviour. (JKNS)
