36 States/UTs to Participate in U-19 Girls Taekwondo Championship

Jammu, Nov 14 (JKNS): Nearly 500 athletes and officials from across the country are gearing up to participate in the 69th National School Games U-19 Girls Taekwondo Championship, set to begin at the Indoor Sports Complex, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.

The Joint Director of Youth Services and Sports (Jammu), Vinakshi Koul, who also serves as the Organising Secretary of the event, chaired an important meeting of team managers and coaches representing various contingents from 36 States and Union Territories at the lodging centre in Jammu.

She was accompanied by Parichay Mishra, Field Officer of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI); Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu; along with conveners of the Reception and Publicity Committees.

Welcoming all team officials, Ms. Koul extended warm greetings on behalf of the department and assured them of excellent arrangements, hospitality, and support in the City of Temples. She highlighted the importance of maintaining sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork throughout the championship, adding that every effort would be made to ensure the event’s resounding success.

Ms. Koul also briefed the managers on crucial logistical and operational aspects, reaffirming the department’s commitment to providing seamless facilities and assistance to all teams.Field Officer Parichay Mishra and the Technical Director of the Games also addressed the gathering, offering valuable insights to the officials.As a gesture of goodwill, gift hampers were presented to all managers and coaches, who commended the organisers for their efficient coordination and outstanding arrangements.

The dignitaries expressed appreciation for the visionary leadership of Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Youth Services and Sports Department, Yasha Mudgal, and Director General YSS, Anuradha Gupta, whose guidance has been instrumental in hosting the championship.

With the arrival of 35 contingents and the expected arrival of the Mizoram team, Jammu is fully prepared to host what promises to be a spirited and memorable edition of the National School Games.

The participating contingents represent the diverse and vibrant sporting spirit of India, with teams from Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, CISCE, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, IPSC, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, KVS, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, NVS, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Vidya Bharati, West Bengal, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, DAV, IBSSO, and CBSE set to compete.
