J&K Shines at NSG Taekwondo as Shivansh, Mohit, Prikshit Strike Gold

Jammu, Nov 11 (JKNS): In a remarkable display of talent and determination, Mohit Anthal and Shivansh Rajput representing Jammu & Kashmir, along with Prikshit from Haryana, clinched Gold medals, positioning J&K as a formidable contender in the ongoing 69th National School Games U-19 Boys Taekwondo Championship.

The prestigious event is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) and under the the leadership of Director General Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Anuradha Gupta at the Indoor Sports Complex, Bhagwati Nagar, here.

In the fiercely contested -45 kg category, Shivansh Rajput showcased exceptional skill to secure the Gold medal, while Preet Singh of Assam earned the Silver. Soham Joe of Goa and Moksh of Uttarakhand each walked away with Bronze medals in this division.Meanwhile, in the -55 kg category, Mohit Anthal’s outstanding performance earned him the Gold medal, surpassing worthy opponent Pardeep of Haryana, who took Silver. Parth Satish of CBSE and Chinmroy of Assam were awarded Bronze medals.

In the -73 kg category, Prikshit from Haryana emerged victorious with the Gold medal, followed by Gourav Singh of Madhya Pradesh, who claimed Silver. Bronze medals went to Aditya Raj of Bihar and Omkar Raja of Maharashtra.

Other thrilling matches on the day saw Kerala triumph over Uttar Pradesh in the 78 kg category, Maharashtra defeat Assam, CBSE outplay Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka conquer Goa, KVS overpower Chandigarh, Haryana dominate Uttarakhand, Rajasthan surpass West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh best Tamil Nadu, Vidya Bharati edge out Telangana, CISE overwhelm Odisha, IPSC defeat Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand outclass NVS, and Himachal Pradesh outshine Bihar. In subsequent rounds, Kerala, CBSE, KVS, Haryana, J&K, Vidya Bharati, Punjab, and Jharkhand registered impressive victories, setting the stage for intense competition ahead.

The medal ceremony for the -45 kg, -59 kg, and -73 kg categories was graced by Chief Guest Abdul Satar, Joint Commissioner JMC, accompanied by distinguished dignitaries including Dr. Divya Sharma, Veterinary Officer JMC; Dr. Rabia Khan, Assistant Floriculture Officer JMC; Faizan Manzoor, General Manager CSC SPV (J&K); Parichay Mishra, Field Officer SGFI; and key officials from the host department such as Vinakshi Koul, Joint Director YSS Jammu (Organising Secretary), and Megha Baogia, Deputy Director (Activities), Directorate of Youth Services and Sports J&K.

The spirited performances and commendable victories underscore Jammu & Kashmir’s emergence as a rising champion in the national Taekwondo arena, signaling a bright future for the region’s young athletes. (JKNS)
