Srinagar, Oct 31 (JKNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday hit out at those, as he said, who are attempting to create confusion among people regarding the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a public gathering at SKICC Srinagar, Sinha as per news agency JKNS said, “There should be no doubt on the matter, the Union Home Minister has clearly stated that delimitation will be followed by elections and then statehood at an appropriate stage.”

He said that certain sections are trying to mislead the public, but the UT administration already enjoys sufficient powers which are being used for public good.

LG described October 31 as a “turning point in J&K’s history”, a day that symbolizes the end of fear, separatism and terrorism, and the beginning of a peaceful, progressive, and inclusive era.

Recalling the historic changes brought after August 2019, Sinha said the decision under PM Modi’s leadership extended constitutional rights and justice to every citizen. “Even the President of India earlier had no authority here, and today every citizen is empowered,” he remarked.

He said that the abrogation of Article 370 marked the collapse of separatist walls. “J&K Police and security forces have broken the backbone of terrorism. People now participate fearlessly in democratic processes,” he added.

Sinha said that the youth have rejected violence and are embracing peace and development. “Terrorism feeds on ideology and public backing. Once society withdraws that support, terrorism ceases to exist and that process has already begun,” he concluded. (JKNS)
