New Delhi, Oct 21 (JKNS): The Delhi Division of Northern Railway is closely monitoring the heavy rush of passengers travelling to their native places to celebrate the festival of Chhath at major railway stations.

Elaborate arrangements have been made across major stations in the Delhi area for the convenience of passengers, especially those heading toward eastern parts of the country.

A permanent holding area has been commissioned at New Delhi Railway Station. Additionally, temporary holding areas (tents) have been set up at New Delhi and Anand Vihar Terminal stations. These facilities are equipped with UTS ticket counters, toilets, ATVMs, catering stalls, “May I Help You” booths, and a public address system. Adequate railway staff are deployed to guide and assist passengers.

Today, a total of 26 special trains — including 8 from New Delhi, 3 from Delhi Jn., 9 from Anand Vihar Terminal, 3 from Hazrat Nizamuddin, 1 from Shakurbasti, 1 from Shamli, and 1 from Rohtak — were scheduled to originate from the major stations of the Delhi area, in addition to 2 passing special trains.

Based on real-time monitoring of passenger rush, two unscheduled special trains (New Delhi–Darbhanga and Anand Vihar Terminal–Bhagalpur) were planned and operated today (up to 14:00 hrs). The DRM, ADRMs, and senior officers are continuously supervising crowd management efforts at all major stations. (JKNS)
