The atmosphere outside the District Commissioner’s office in Budgam was charged with enthusiasm as supporters from different political parties gathered to accompany their candidates. Locals expressed mixed reactions supporters of the NC and PDP appeared divided over their preferences, reflecting a competitive and unpredictable electoral mood in the constituency.

Interestingly, both Aga Mehmood (NC) and Aga Muntazir Mehdi (PDP) belong to the same locality, adding a touch of personal rivalry to the larger political showdown. Mehdi was accompanied by several senior PDP figures, including Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra and Ghulam Nabi Khanjura, during the nomination process.

With nominations now officially closed, Budgam gears up for a spirited campaign phase, as the by-election promises to be one of the most closely watched political battles in central Kashmir. (JKNS)
