Anantnag, Oct 18 (JKNS): The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Anantnag has taken strong note of circulation of a minor’s video recorded during an event of Physics Walla in Anantnag, terming it a violation of the child’s privacy and an offence under law.
In a statement issued by Child welfare committee as per news agency JKNS that the minor approached the committee stating that the gesture in the video had been misinterpreted and misused on social media, exposing the child to immoral and threatening comments.
The CWC observed that the circulation of such content violates provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, Rules 2016 and other applicable laws. It said undue dissemination of the video amounts to abuse against the child.
The committee has directed all social media handlers and individual account holders to immediately delete the content and restrain from circulating it further.
It warned that any violation of the order shall be dealt with strictly as per law and may invite imprisonment. (JKNS)
