UIDAI Launches Mega Aadhaar Biometric Update Drive in J&K, Camps Witness Huge Response in Kupwara

Kupwara, Sep 27 (JKNS): The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Regional Office Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha, School Education Department, has rolled out a massive Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) drive across Jammu and Kashmir, covering both government and private schools.

In District Kupwara, mega Aadhaar camps are underway under the supervision of the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kupwara, District Nodal Officer Aadhaar, and school authorities. The initiative has seen overwhelming participation from students, parents, and teachers, ensuring smooth and disruption-free biometric updates. Special focus has been laid on children in the 0–5 years and 15–17 years age groups, where biometric updates are crucial for Aadhaar accuracy.

The MBU drive has already reached 1,800 schools across J&K, extending even into remote and hilly areas. Accurate Aadhaar details are essential for enabling students to appear in competitive exams like JEE, NEET, UPSC, and also to access scholarships, higher education admissions, welfare schemes, and services like passport issuance.

Officials from UIDAI emphasized that Aadhaar is not just an identity proof but a gateway to opportunities, protecting students from future hurdles. State Project Manager UIDAI J&K, Shoaib Mohmad Khan, praised the smooth conduct of camps in Kupwara and urged parents to ensure timely participation of their children.

CEO Kupwara directed all Heads of Institutions (HOIs) to actively support the drive for maximum coverage. The campaign will continue in the coming days, expanding to more schools and districts, with the ultimate goal of reaching every eligible child and ensuring updated Aadhaar records across J&K.
