From spirited sports tournaments to impactful social awareness campaigns, the fortnight-long event, observed from September 17 to October 2, is successfully channelizing youth energy towards nation-building and community welfare.

The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) is at the forefront of this massive mobilization, orchestrating a diverse calendar of events that cater to young athletes, students, and community volunteers alike.

In the capital city, Sewa Parv was observed with great fervour, engaging over 4,200 youngsters. The day commenced with morning fitness sessions and yoga, promoting a message of healthy living and discipline.

Participants took pledges dedicated to community service, environmental protection, and a drug-free society. Cleanliness drives in public spaces and anti-drug rallies further reinforced the values of civic responsibility and collective action. The celebrations were capped with unity runs and traditional games, highlighting the region’s rich cultural heritage alongside sporting competitions like volleyball.

The Department of Youth Services and Sports continued its vibrant Sewa Parv calendar on Day 7 with a blend of sporting competitions and awareness drives. Events like volleyball, kabaddi, and cricket were organized across all zones, showcasing remarkable discipline and teamwork.

Zones Narbal and Soibugh introduced impactful activities such as anti-drug awareness rallies, cycling expeditions, and exhibitions promoting a drug-free lifestyle. Mr. Ghulam Hassan Lone, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Budgam, emphasized that Sewa Parv is a platform to cultivate social responsibility and community bonding alongside sporting excellence.

Anantnag district witnessed two major highlights. A District Level Cycling Race, a flagship Sewa Parv event, saw over 340 male students compete in a 7-kilometer race, promoting health and environmental sustainability. Simultaneously, the District Level Athletics Meet for Girls at the Sports Stadium Naanil was a resounding success.

Young athletes in the U/14, U/17, and U/19 categories displayed exceptional talent and competitive spirit in various track and field events, receiving wide acclaim for their performances.

The Inter-District Division Level Football Tournament for U19 and U17 girls concluded with Team Jammu emerging as U17 champions after defeating Team Reasi 2-0. The U17 Boys Boxing category is currently underway.

A grand inaugural ceremony was held for the Inter-District Division Level Kabaddi U/19 Boys and Inter-Division UT Level Wushu tournaments at the Indoor Sports Stadium Doda. District Development Commissioner (DC) Doda, Sh. Harvinder Singh (IAS), declared the events open, encouraging participants to display true sportsmanship.

The Under-17 Inter-Cluster Cricket Competition for boys is actively underway, alongside successful Under-19 cricket trials in Zone Dangerpora, focusing on talent identification and promotion.

The Inter-District Divisional Level Under-14 Boys Volleyball Tournament was inaugurated at the Mini Stadium Sports Complex, aiming to foster camaraderie, discipline, and athletic excellence at the grassroots level.

Adding a powerful dimension to the celebrations, a vibrant cycle rally was organized in Tangdar Valley. Students, youth, and community members pedaled with determination, carrying placards and raising slogans to spread awareness against drug abuse.

The event was hailed by locals as a constructive channeling of youth energy, perfectly embodying the Sewa Parv ethos of blending awareness with action for meaningful social impact.

The Sewa Parv 2025 celebrations will continue across Jammu and Kashmir with more engaging activities, culminating on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, with grand finale events in each district, reinforcing the ideals of service, fitness, and collective responsibility
