Poonch, Sep 19 (JKNS): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested a Patwari posted at Patwar Halqa Shahpur in Poonch district after he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
Spokesman in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, said the accused, identified as Jameel Ahmed Bhat, had demanded money from a complainant for processing compensation documents related to damage caused to his house during recent heavy rainfall.
The complainant, unable to pay the demanded Rs 20,000, approached the ACB and lodged a formal complaint. Acting on the input, the agency registered FIR No. 06/2025 at ACB Police Station Rajouri and laid a successful trap, the spokesman added.
“Bhat was apprehended on the spot while taking Rs 15,000 from the complainant. He was immediately arrested, and searches were conducted at his residence. Further investigation in the case is going on,” the spokesman said. (JKNS)
