These handles have been found to be operating independently, without any affiliation to the institution.

The college authorities have assured that they will take strict legal action against those found to be behind these fake handles.

“This includes reporting the matter to law enforcement agencies and pursuing action under applicable cyber laws,” said the college spokesperson.

The college has urged everyone to be cautious and refrain from engaging with these fake handles.

Examples of pages that may be operating with potentially mischievous intent using the college’s name include @womenscollegevlogs, @womens_college_official, @womenscollegeconfessions998, and @confession.womens.collage.sgr.

The college has emphasized that these handles are not officially affiliated with the historic institution which happens to be completing 75 years this year.

To ensure that students and stakeholders receive authentic information, the college has requested that they follow only the official social media handles.

“The official handles will always provide accurate and reliable information,” said the college spokesperson.

The college has also set up a reporting mechanism for fake handles. “Anyone who encounters suspicious handles can report them to the principal’s email at [email protected],” the spokesperson added.

The college administration has assured prompt action in addressing these issues. The move is seen as a proactive step by the college to protect its reputation and ensure that its students and stakeholders are not misled by fake social media handles.

The college’s efforts to combat cyber misrepresentation are expected to enhance the safety and security of its online presence, reads the statement.

As reported by JKNS earlier that students, teachers from multiple colleges expressed anger over breach of privacy on these handles.

On Wednesday, in an official statement Amarsingh college distanced itself from fake unofficial pages.

The college administration informed that these accounts are being used to post content that violates the privacy of students and staff inside the college, involves posting fake news and sharing personal details of students, and contravenes the guidelines on discipline and responsible use of social media repeatedly issued by the institution, and compromises the safety of students while bringing disrepute to the college.

“Of these, some posts including videos, messages, and images recorded inside classrooms and other public spaces of the college, constitute a serious breach of privacy and discipline,” read the statement. (JKNS)
