KARNAH, Sept 6 (JKNS): A large medical camp was held at Teetwal near the Line of Control on Saturday, where hundreds of residents from remote villages availed healthcare services.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kupwara, Dr. Masarat Aslam, who inaugurated the camp, said providing quality healthcare to border residents is the Health Department’s foremost priority.

She informed that specially-abled persons were also issued disability certificates during the camp. “Earlier, patients had to travel to Kupwara for such services. But in the last one month, two medical board camps have been held in Karnah itself, ensuring these facilities are available locally,” she added.

Dr. Aslam also cautioned that doctors posted in Karnah must attend to their duties regularly, warning that disciplinary action will be taken against those who remain absent.

The event was attended by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah, Zaffar Ahmad Lone, and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Tangdar, Dr. Khwaja Arif.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Arif said all types of medicines were made available at the camp. “Our focus is to deliver healthcare at people’s doorsteps in this remote border region,” he remarked. (JKNS)
