SOPORE, Aug 11 (JKNS): In a patriotic display ahead of Independence Day, the Fisheries Department Baramulla in collaboration with Sopore Administration on Monday organised a vibrant Shikara Tiranga Rally on the waters of Wular Lake.
Details available with news agency JKNS, The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the fishermen community and volunteers from Sopore, Zurmanz, and Watlab, who rowed shikaras adorned with the national flag, creating a striking spectacle on Asia’s largest freshwater lake.
Among the dignitaries present were ADC Sopore S. A. Raina (JKAS), Assistant Director Fisheries Showkat Ahmad, SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Ahmad (KPS), and DO Warpora Mohd Hafeez, along with staff members of the Fisheries Department.
Officials said the rally was aimed at promoting national unity and celebrating the spirit of freedom while also highlighting the cultural and ecological significance of Wular Lake. (JKNS)
