Srinagar, Aug 11 (JKNS): Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, on Monday said that elaborate multi-tier security measures have been put in place to ensure that Independence Day celebrations on August 15 pass off peacefully.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Birdi as per news agebcy JKNS said that security drills and full-dress rehearsals are already underway in various locations. “We have set up a comprehensive security grid covering all critical points to ensure smooth and incident-free celebrations,” he said.

IGP Birdi said that Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with paramilitary forces, have strengthened deployment and surveillance in vulnerable areas and around major venues.

“Our priority is the safety of participants and the general public. Every arrangement is aimed at preventing any disruption to the event,” Birdi stated. (JKNS)
