Drone tech bootcamp concludes at GCW M.A. Road

Srinagar, July 27 (JKNS): The one-week bootcamp on “Artificial Intelligence in Drones” organised by Department of Computer Applications, Govt. College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar in collaboration with NIELIT concluded on July 25. The bootcamp was attended by over 60 students of Computer Applications.

The bootcamp featured technical lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training sessions, covering topics such as drone hardware architecture, AI integration, and virtual testing. Resource persons from NIELIT and NIT Srinagar shared their expertise on drone technology, AI applications, and regulatory frameworks. Participants gained hands-on experience in assembling, simulating, and flying drones, with demonstrations on manual and autonomous modes.

In her address during the valedictory session, Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Farooq highlighted the importance of emerging technologies in shaping future innovations. Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Fayaz, Joint Director and Scientist-D at NIELIT, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the role of AI in the future of autonomous systems.

Earlier, Prof. Rashid Ashraf Malik summarized the activities and achievements of the bootcamp. A demo presentation by Mr. Aijaz Hussain, a student of MCA, showcased a project on Brain-Computer Interface, earning much appreciation. This was followed by the distribution of certificates among the participants.

The bootcamp helped students with improved understanding of drone hardware, software, and regulatory landscape, skill development in assembling, simulating, and flying drones and awareness of AI integration in UAVs and real-life applications. The bootcamp emphasized grant opportunities under MeitY, DST, and AICTE, encouraging students to initiate research-based projects and innovation.

The valedictory session began with the brief introduction by Prof. Malik Durafshan while Dr. Asif Iqbal Kawoosa presented Vote of Thanks. The event was coordinated by Dr. Asif and Prof. Rashid from GCW, M.A. Road and Dr. Fayaz from NIELIT. The organizing team also included Prof. Shakeel Ahmad Najar, Prof. Durafshan, Dr. Junaid Latief Shah and Prof. Mohammad Umar John.
