GMC Jammu Orders Emergency Faculty Deployment After Violence on Doctors

Jammu, July 16 (JKNS): Following an incident of violence against doctors in the Emergency Ward of Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu, junior doctors deployed in the unit have gone on a flash strike, prompting urgent administrative measures to maintain patient care.

According to an official order issued by Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean of GMC Jammu, and accessed by news agency JKNS, all Clinical and Para-clinical Heads of Departments (HoDs) have been instructed to ensure the deployment of faculty members and consultants in the Emergency Ward until the junior doctors resume duty.

“In the interest of patient care,” the order reads, “all HoDs are impressed upon to ensure emergency rosters are maintained by their departments.”

The order highlights the hospital administration’s swift response to prevent disruption in emergency services, following the reported act of violence that triggered the strike. The situation remains under close monitoring. (JKNS)
