MLA Tarigami reviews Agricultural initiatives at Lalmandi Srinagar

SRINAGAR: In a focused effort to strengthen the agricultural and horticultural sectors of Kulgam constituency, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kulgam M.Y. Tarigami chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the Directorate of Agriculture, Lalmandi Srinagar.
The session spotlighted strategic planning for the Kulgam constituency, with emphasis on the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme, Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) formation, and market linkage enhancement.
Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining current initiatives, challenges, and future goals. The presentation emphasized innovation, farmer empowerment, and sustainable growth.
The meeting was attended by key dignitaries and stakeholders, including Farooq Ahmad Dar, Managing Director, HPMC; Jeelani Zargar, Director, Horticulture Planning and Marketing; Vikas Anand, Director, Horticulture Kashmir, Joint Directors, senior officers from relevant departments, and senior citizens
MLA commended the department’s efforts toward transforming the agriculture sector through innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth. He particularly appreciated the initiatives aimed at empowering small and marginal farmers, promoting agri-entrepreneurship among youth, and improving market access through integrated value chains.
He reiterated the importance of institutional collaboration and grassroots engagement to transform Kulgam into a model constituency for agri-horticultural development.
The gathering concluded with a shared commitment to accelerate implementation and ensure tangible benefits for farming communities.
