Baramulla, July 7 (JKNS): A tragic road accident occurred on Monday afternoon near the petrol pump in Sheeri, Baramulla, involving a Dumper and a Tata Sumo, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to two others.
Official sources told news agency JKNS that the Dumper was coming from Uri, while the Tata Sumo was headed toward Uri from Baramulla when the two vehicles collided head-on near Sheeri.
In the impact, one person identified as Gh. Mohiuddin, son of Gh. Mohammad, a resident of Trekanjal Boniyar, died on the spot. Two other occupants sustained minor injuries and were provided first aid, officials said.
Police from Police Station Sheeri immediately reached the site and took control of the situation. The dumper driver was arrested on the spot and the vehicle was also seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
The cause of the collision is being probed and a case has been registered. (JKNS)
