Emotional Farewell to CHO Mumtaz Shafiq After 33 Years of Service in Qazigund

Qazigund, July 2: A grand and heartfelt farewell was organized today in honor of Mr. Mumtaz Shafiq, Community Health Officer (CHO) of Medical Block Qazigund, who retired after completing 33 years of distinguished service in the healthcare sector.

The farewell ceremony was held at Primary Health Centre, Checkiwangund, where a large gathering of doctors, paramedics, health workers, administrative staff, and well-wishers from across the area came together to celebrate the remarkable career of a devoted public servant. Emotions ran high as colleagues, friends, and juniors bid farewell to Mr. Shafiq — a dedicated officer, mentor, and friend.

Mr. Shafiq was lauded for his unwavering commitment to public health, his leadership during various health emergencies, and his compassionate approach to patient care. Throughout his service, he played a crucial role in enhancing healthcare delivery, particularly in rural and underserved areas of the Qazigund block.

Speaking on the occasion, Block Medical Officer Qazigund, Dr. Night Nasreena, said, “Mumtaz Shafiq has been the backbone of our health services. His integrity, professionalism, and tireless efforts have left a lasting impact on the community.”

Several colleagues and guests shared anecdotes, expressing their admiration for his humility, dedication, and work ethic. A commemorative plaque and a token of appreciation were presented to Mr. Shafiq in recognition of his lifelong service.

In his farewell address, Mr. Mumtaz Shafiq thanked his colleagues, the health department, and the people of Qazigund. “Serving this community has been the greatest honor of my life. I am humbled by the love and respect I have received,” he remarked.

The event concluded with heartfelt goodbyes, warm embraces, and best wishes for a peaceful and fulfilling retirement. Mr. Mumtaz Shafiq leaves behind a legacy of service and compassion that will continue to inspire generations of healthcare workers in Medical Block Qazigund.
