The event was led by Commissioner, SMC, Faz Lul Haseeb whose inspiring leadership added vigor to the celebration.
Recognized globally each year on June 21st, International Yoga Day highlights the transformative benefits of yoga in enhancing physical vitality, mental tranquility, and spiritual harmony.
The occasion featured captivating demonstrations of various yoga postures, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques, aimed at encouraging citizens to incorporate these practices into their daily routines for a healthier and more balanced life.
A key highlight of the event was the address delivered by Haseeb, who eloquently underscored the crucial role of mindfulness and yoga in fostering overall health, mental clarity, and emotional resilience. His words inspired many participants to adopt yoga as a vital component of their wellness journey.
Joint Commissioner, Nuzhat Khursheed was also present on the occassion.

Pardesi calls Yoga an invaluable gift of ancient tradition
Srinagar : International Day of Yoga was on Saturday celebrated at the iconic heritage site Group of Arched Terraces/Structural Complex, Pari Mahal, Srinagar by the Archaeological Survey of India, Srinagar Circle.
Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Lal Chowk, Ahsan Pardesi presided over the celebrations as the chief guest.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation under the global theme for this year, ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health,’ emphasizing harmony between humanity and nature, and promoting wellness at both individual and planetary levels.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Lal Chowk highlighted the relevance of yoga in today’s world. He said, “Yoga is an invaluable gift of our ancient tradition. It enhances not just individual health, but connects us with the larger goal of environmental balance and collective well-being.”
“Celebrating Yoga Day at a historic site like Pari Mahal is a beautiful reminder of our roots and responsibilities,” he added.
The event also witnessed the presence of Padma Shri awardee, Faisal Ali Dar, a celebrated sports personality from Jammu and Kashmir, and the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, as guests of honour. Both dignitaries appreciated the initiative and underscored the benefits of incorporating yoga in daily life.
Students from Syed Meerak Shah High School, Shalimar, Iqbal Mission High School, Brain Nishat, and scholars from the faculty of Agricultural Sciences, SKUAST-Kashmir, actively participated in the yoga demonstration sessions conducted by trained instructors.
Earlier, the celebration commenced with an introductory talk on the essence and benefits of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and environmental health. The mass yoga session included common asanas, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques aimed at holistic wellness. The event concluded with the distribution of participation certificates.
Fire & Emergency Hqrs observes Int’l Yoga Day
Srinagar : The department of Fire and Emergency on Saturday observed the 11th International Yoga Day Saturday with great enthusiasm and spirit across both headquarters (Jammu and Srinagar), all District Headquarters and Fire Training Centre Bari Brahmana.
The celebration saw participation from officers and personnel of all ranks, who assembled early in the morning at their respective locations and practiced various yoga asanas under the guidance of trained instructors.
The event aimed to promote physical well-being, mental discipline and holistic fitness among the fire-fighting staff who serve the public under physically and mentally demanding conditions.
Speaking on the occasion, senior officers of the department emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily routine to enhance agility, stress management and professional resilience qualities.
The Fire & Emergency Services Department reaffirmed its commitment towards promoting health, fitness and inner well-being among its personnel as part of its broader goal of building a strong, disciplined, and service-oriented force.
GCOE Srinagar celebrates Int’l Yoga Day
Srinagar : The Physical Education department of Government College of Education (GCOE) on Saturday celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Seema Naz to promote the holistic benefits of yoga and foster awareness among participants.
The celebration was part of Yoga Sangam, the PAN India mass yoga demonstration.
A guided yoga practice was conducted, covering asanas, pranayama, and meditation, led by Common Instructors through live sessions.
More than 50 participants which include students and staff members of the college performed CYP exercises.
The whole event was coordinated and managed by the staff of the Physical Education department of the college.
A S College Srinagar celebrates 11th Int’l Yoga Day
Srinagar : Amar Singh College, Srinagar, celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2025, with great enthusiasm and participation, reinforcing its commitment to promoting health, wellness, and holistic education.
A large number of students and faculty members actively participated in the event, which was held in the Bukhari Hall of the college.
The event was organized by the Department of Physical Education in collaboration with the College Sports Committee. The programme aimed at raising awareness about the multifaceted benefits of Yoga and encouraging its integration into daily life for improved physical and mental well-being.
The celebration commenced with a vibrant Yoga session in which a series of Yoga Asanas and breathing exercises were performed under expert guidance. The session not only reflected the growing popularity of Yoga among youth but also highlighted its relevance as a tool for stress management, emotional balance, and holistic development.
Yoga demonstration was led by Sehrish Latif and Sana Mehraj, students of the Second Semester, who are also nationally recognized Yoga instructors. Their leadership and skillful execution of Yoga postures were widely appreciated. In recognition of their contributions, both students were felicitated during the event.
Following the Yoga session, a formal ceremony was held to reflect on the significance of the day. The coordinator of the event addressed the gathering and emphasized that Yoga is not merely a form of exercise but a way of life that seeks to harmonize the body, mind, and soul. He urged students to adopt Yoga as a daily practice and to take pride in participating in a movement that resonates with India’s ancient wisdom and global vision.
In his official message, Principal of Amar Singh College, Prof. Ajaz Ahmad Hakak, reiterated the institution’s dedication to fostering holistic education and wellness-based programmes, in alignment with the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ the world is one family. He praised the efforts of the organizing committee and lauded the student participants for their spirited involvement in the event.
NIFT Srinagar celebrates Int’l Yoga Day with enthusiasm
Srinagar : The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Srinagar, Saturday celebrated the International Day of Yoga on the college campus at Ompora, Budgam.
In the wee hours, enthusiastic staff and students along with faculty and staff performed yoga asanas. Yoga trainers used the occasion to impart different techniques of breathing exercises and meditation to students and the staff.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Monika Gupta, Director, NIFT, emphasized the importance of yoga in Saturday’s hectic and restless lifestyle and called upon staff and students to adopt yoga as a means of holistic development.
“Yoga is not merely a set of exercises, as its impact goes beyond the body and replenishes the soul. It’s a way of life that harmonizes the body, mind, and spirit,” Dr. Gupta said.
This ancient practice aims to promote physical well-being, inner peace. “The celebration on the campus aligns with the institute’s ongoing commitment to integrate wellness and creativity in the student experience,” Prof. Gupta stressed.
Prof. Gupta also praised the students, faculty, and staff for showing great enthusiasm on the occasion. She said incorporating yoga as part of lifestyle will go a long way to address modern-day work stress.
“The practice of yoga will for sure enhance the quality of life,” she underlined. Senior faculty also joined students on the occasion.
