Srinagar Breaks Heat Record as Mercury Hits 35.5°C; Highest June Temperature Since 2005

Srinagar, June 20 (JKNS): The Kashmir Valley continues to reel under an intense heatwave, with Srinagar recording a maximum temperature of 35.5°C on Friday breaking yesterday’s record and marking the highest June temperature since 2005.

Details compiled by Kashmir Weather, as per news agency JKNS, stated that Qazigund recorded 34.5°C (7.1°C above normal), Pahalgam 30.0°C (5.2°C above normal)

Similarly, in Kupwara 34.1°C (4.4°C above normal), Kokernag 33.6°C (6.4°C above normal), and Gulmarg 25.2°C (5.2°C above normal).

In the Jammu region, the city of Jammu recorded 36.1°C, which is 1.5°C below normal, Banihal saw 30.6°C (1.5°C above normal).

While, Batote 27.8°C (0.5°C below normal), Bhaderwah 32.6°C (2.1°C above normal) and Katra 32.0°C (2.8°C below normal).

For Ladakh, Leh recorded 29.5°C, while Kargil registered 32.9°C, details stated.

The persistent heatwave has left people across the region hoping for relief in the coming days. (JKNS)
