J&K Swelters as Heatwave Persists, Srinagar Records 33.5°C

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir continued to reel under an intense heatwave on Tuesday, with temperatures soaring well above normal across most parts, while Srinagar recorded the day temperature of 33.5 degree celcius.

According to data compiled by Kashmir Weather as per news agency JKNS, both Kashmir and Jammu divisions witnessed high maximum temperatures, triggering heat-related advisories.

In the Kashmir region, Srinagar recorded a scorching 33.5°C, 5.5°C above the seasonal average. Qazigund reported 34.0°C (7.3°C above normal), while Kokernag and Pahalgam sizzled at 32.2°C and 29.2°C respectively. Gulmarg, the popular hill resort, recorded 23.0°C, still 4.2°C above normal.

In the Jammu region, Jammu city touched 44.4°C a staggering 5.6°C above the normal making it one of the hottest areas in the Union Territory. Katra recorded 40.6°C, while Banihal and Batote remained in the low 30s, but well above average by over 5°C.

Similarly, In Ladakh, Kargil recorded 27.8°C, it stated.

Authorities have urged residents to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary outdoor activity during peak hours, and take precautionary measures to cope with the ongoing heatwave. (JKNS)
