Srinagar, Jun 5 (JKNS): After weeks of silence following the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, markets across Kashmir are once again bustling with activity ahead of Eid.

The return of customers has brought relief to shopkeepers and traders who had faced heavy losses over the past month.

Shoppers are now crowding markets to buy clothes, food, and other festive items, giving a much-needed boost to local businesses. Many traders had stocked up for Eid, hoping for better days, and now feel their efforts are paying off.

“Thankfully, people are coming out to shop. We request everyone to support local traders and keep prices reasonable,” said Mir Muhammad Yaseen, a shopkeeper taking to the news agency JKNS.

Tourist bookings had also taken a hit after the Pahalgam attack, affecting hostel and hotel owners. But the current revival is seen as a positive sign for Kashmir’s economy.

“Alhamdulillah, markets are getting busy again. We pray this continues across the Valley,” Yaseen added.

The April 22 attack had left the region in shock, with a sharp decline in tourism and business. Traders now see the pre-Eid rush as a hopeful recovery. (JKNS)
