Lok Adalat settles 949 cases at Rajouri

RAJOURI: As per the direction of NALSA, the 2nd  National Lok Adalat of the calendar year 2025, was held at District Court Complex, Rajouri and in all other Courts of the District, under the Chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Service Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Rajinder Sapru, and guidance of Sub-Judge/Secretary District Legal Services Authority Shama Sharma.

At District Court, 2 benches were constituted to hear cases of different nature.

The First bench was headed by Rajinder Sapru (Principal District & Sessions Judge Rajouri) assisted by Sudesh Sharma (Additional District & Sessions Judge Rajouri) and Khilat Mehmood Bhat Advocate, while Second bench was headed by Javed Rana (Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajouri) and assisted by Rayaz Ahmed Choudhary (Sub-Judge Special Mobile Magistrate Rajouri) and  Shavika Gupta (District Mobile Magistrate (Traffic).

Similar benches were also constituted at Tehsil Level, headed by the Presiding Officers of the respective Courts.

A total of 1261 cases including pre-litigation and post-litigation were taken up before these benches out of which 949 Cases were disposed of.

An amount of Rs 2,21,50,543 (Two Crore Twenty one Lakh Fifty Thousand Five hundred and Forty Three only) was realized as compensation.

The court of Principal District & Sessions Judge and Additional District & Sessions Judge  took up 44 MACT Cases,  of which 44 were settled and an amount of Rs. 2,17,55,850 ( Two Crore Seventeen Lakh Fifty Five thousand Eight hundred and Fifty only) was awarded as compensation. The National Lok Adalat was attended by representatives of Banks, Advocates of different Insurance companies, Bar members, PLVs, Staff members, Litigants and a large number of peoples.
