Ahead of Eid Ul Adha: DC Srinagar holds meeting of various Trade Associations

Stresses self regulation by FBOs, ensuring quality and standard of essential commodities in City

SRINAGAR: Ahead of upcoming Eid-Ul-Adha celebrations, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat chaired a meeting with representatives of various Traders Association at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex here today regarding, regulation, quality and availability of food items in the district.

The meeting was among others attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aadil Fareed; Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Yamin Ul Nabi and other concerned besides, representatives of different trade Associations including Bakers Association, Butchers Association and Street Vendors Association.

At the outset, DC emphasized on ensuring best quality and hygienic food items at all Food Business establishments across the City. He urged the representatives of the trade associations to ensure self regulations at their respective food establishments by strictly adhering to the laid guidelines with regard to quality, and rates of the food items including bakery, meat, chicken, confectionary, fruits etc, particularly on upcoming Eid-Ul Adha.

Dr Bilal asked the representatives of the Trade Associations to sensitize their respective members regarding the self regulation, hygiene and to maintain quality and standard of essential commodities. He further asked them to ensure that all essential commodities are sold at Government approved rates.
