Bandipora : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, on Monday visited the families and traders affected by the recent devastating fire in Sumbal, which caused extensive damage to commercial structures and residential houses.
During the visit, DC handed over relief cheques to the affected families as an immediate financial assistance measure aimed at helping the victims meet their urgent needs.
DC was accompanied by Sub Divisional Magistrate Sumbal and other concerned officers.
He conducted an on-ground assessment of the damage and interacted with the victims and expressed solidarity with the affected families.
Qadri said that detailed damage assessment is underway, and further compensation and rehabilitation measures will follow.
He instructed the Revenue officials to expedite the damage assessment process to facilitate timely disbursement of additional compensation wherever applicable.
