ANANTNAG: In a significant step aimed at promoting environmental conservation and community welfare, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kokernag, Zaffar Ali Khatana, conducted a strategic review of key eco-development and conservation initiatives at the Rajparian Wildlife Sanctuary in Daksum today.
He was accompanied by senior officials of the Wildlife Protection Department, including Wildlife Warden South Kashmir.
MLA assessed ongoing habitat restoration efforts and initiatives aimed at preserving endangered species while enhancing eco-tourism and local livelihoods.
Wildlife Warden presented the department’s strategic roadmap, highlighting collaborative efforts with research bodies and local stakeholders to ensure science-based, community-friendly conservation practices.
Two rescue vehicles have also been procured to manage Human-Wildlife Conflict (HWC) more effectively.
During the visit, MLA distributed ex-gratia relief to families affected by recent HWC incidents, reiterating the Government’s commitment to a people-centric conservation approach.
“Conservation and community welfare must go hand in hand. Our efforts aim to balance ecological protection with social justice,” said MLA Khatana.
