Escort Vehicle of AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmed Mir Collides with Truck; One Injured

Ramban, May 16 (JKNS): An escort vehicle part of the convoy of AICC General Secretary and MLA Ghulam Ahmed Mir met with an accident near Peerah on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Friday, leaving one security personnel injured.

An official told news agency JKNS that the mishap occurred when the security escort vehicle, moving as part of Mir’s convoy, collided with a truck moving ahead near Peerah area of Ramban district.

The collision was forceful enough to cause damage to the front portion of the escort vehicle. The accident took place as the convoy was en route towards Kashmir.

Although Ghulam Ahmed Mir was travelling in a separate vehicle and remained unharmed, one of his Personal Security Officers (PSO), who was in the escort vehicle at the time of the crash, sustained injuries.

Injured officer was given immediate first aid at the site and later shifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment. His condition is stated to be stable.

Police and highway authorities rushed to the spot shortly after the accident and managed to clear the route to ensure the safe passage of the remaining vehicles in the convoy. A case has been registered and further investigation into the incident is underway, official said. (JKNS)
