Rajouri : In a significant step towards enhancing public transport services and empowering youth through sustainable livelihood opportunities, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma on Thursday approved 25 new route permits under the ‘Mumkin’ scheme here at a meeting held in the Conference Hall of DC Office.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajesh Gupta, subsequently issued the route permits for services to different areas of the district. The move is set to improve connectivity and ensure safer and more regulated transportation for commuters in Rajouri.
The ‘Mumkin’ scheme, a flagship initiative under Mission Youth, is playing a transformative role by enabling unemployed youth to procure small commercial vehicles on subsidised terms. This initiative not only addresses unemployment but also contributes meaningfully to the local economy by strengthening the transport sector.
During the meeting, extensive deliberations were held regarding the safety and convenience of commuters. DC Rajouri emphasized the need for the timely roll-out of services under the newly approved permits and directed the concerned authorities to maintain strict checks against overloading, overcharging, and irregular vehicle operations.
This decision underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and public safety, setting a strong precedent for responsible and inclusive development in the district.
