Jammu: Police in Jammu on Thursday said that continuing its offensive against narcotics under Operation Sanjeevani, the Jammu District Police on Thursday arrested a drug peddler and recovered a heroin-like substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from the District Police Office Jammu, Police said that a naka was laid by a team from Police Station Akhnoor at Old Bridge Nakka, during which a suspect was intercepted and upon search, approximately 10 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused
Stating that the said accused has been identified as Ghulam Abbas, son of Late Mohd. Bashir, resident of Katar Mal, Tehsil Manjakot, District Rajouri Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 97/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Akhnoor besides which further investigation is underway to uncover the broader drug network.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police reiterated its commitment to eliminate drug trafficking and appealed people to report any suspicious activities to help create a drug-free society.
