One Dead, 81 Livestock Killed as Over-Speeding Truck Runs Over Flock in Doda

Doda, May 12 (JKNS): A speeding truck ran over a flock of sheep and goats belonging to a nomadic family in the Bagerni Khellani area of Doda at around 2 AM on Monday, resulting in the death of one person and large-scale livestock loss, officials said.

An official told news agency JKNS that the truck crushed dozens of animals on the spot and hit a member of the nomadic family, identified as Muzaffar Ali, who died instantly.

Officials said the livestock belonged to Abdul Wahib, son of Mohammad Qasima. The family was on seasonal migration when the accident took place.

Out of the nearly 400 sheep and goats in the herd, 81 were killed and 16 sustained injuries in the incident, causing major loss to the family, officials said.

Police have taken cognizance of the matter and initiated further investigation. (JKNS)
