Srinagar: Amid heightened cross-border tensions, suspected drones have been sighted at 26 locations stretching from Baramulla in north Kashmir to Bhuj in Gujarat, along both the International Border and the Line of Control on Friday evening.
Defence sources told news agency JKNS, the Indian Armed Forces remain on high alert as these sightings include suspected armed drones targeting civilian and military zones. “We are actively tracking and neutralising aerial threats through counter-drone systems,” a defence official stated.
Among the affected areas are Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala, official said.
An armed drone reportedly struck a civilian locality in Ferozpur, Punjab, causing serious injuries to members of a local family. “Medical aid has been provided and the area has been sanitised,” they said.
The armed forces have intensified aerial surveillance and defence response measures across all border regions.
“Citizens, particularly those living in border areas, are advised to remain indoors, restrict unnecessary movement, and follow official advisories. While the situation is under control, vigilance and cooperation are crucial,” they added. (JKNS)
