Srinagar: Continuing its intensified crackdown on the terrorist ecosystem, Srinagar Police has expanded its operations by conducting searches across multiple locations as part of ongoing investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Police spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, Srinagar Police continues intensified searches across multiple locations in the city with the aim to dismantle terror-supporting infrastructure in the district. Pertinently, searches of residences of more than 100 terrorist associates have been conducted till now.
In continuation of the same, searches were carried out at the residences of Sahil Nisar Ganie of Shankarpora, Mehraj-ud-Din Rather of Boatman Colony, Gh Jeelani Bhat of Khodpora Saidakadal Rainawari, Danish Altaf Malik of Arampora Nawakadal, Qazi Usmaan of Haka Bazar Nowhatta, Altaf Ahmad Dar and Mohd Asif Nath both from Malikpora Barthana, Amir Ahmad Gojri of Summerbugh (presently in NIA custody), Muzaffer Ahmad Mir and Rameez Ahmad Mir both of Makdom Colony Maloora, Babar Suhail and Adil Mohammad Lone both of Lawaypora, Zahid Ahmad Illahi of Aliabad, and Bashir Ahmad Bhat of Sozeith.
Further searches were also conducted at the residences of Mohammad Ayoub Parray, Ghulam Rasool Parray, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, Abdul Ahad Bhat, and Sonaullah Bhat all from Sozeith area; Tawheed Ahmad Bhat of Sozeith Goripora; Mohammad Ashraf Wani, Abdul Rehman Wani, Mohammad Ali Wani, and Gulzar Ahmad Wani all from the vicinity of Hanfiya Masjid and Goripora Sozeith; and Ashraf Ahmad Wani of Rice Mill Goripora Sozeith.
In Panzinara, police searched the homes of Mohammad Ashiq Malik, Abdul Rashid Malik, Shabir Ahmad Malik, Farooq Ahmad Parray, and Bilal Ahmad Malik. Nisar Ahmad Wani of Mumkhan Mohalla Rainawari was also among those whose house was searched.
The searches were conducted in accordance with proper legal procedures in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses under the supervision of the officers of J&K Police. The searches were carried out to seize arms, documents, digital devices etc. with the objective of evidence collection and intelligence gathering to detect and deter any conspiratorial or terrorist activity against the security of the Nation, it reads.
This decisive action of J&K Police aims to dismantle the terrorist ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir by identifying and taking legal action against individuals engaged in such anti-national and criminal activities, reads the statement. (JKNS)
