Srinagar, May 6 (JKNS): The Anti-Corruption Branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday caught a Power Development Department (KPDCL) employee red-handed while accepting a bribe in Magam area of Budgam district.
An official told news agency JKNS that Manzoor Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Ahad Dar, a resident of Peth Kanihama in Tehsil Magam, who was posted at the Sub Division Beerwa of KPDCL, was apprehended by the sleuths of CBI while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs 4,000 from a complainant.
The complainant had earlier approached CBI ACB Srinagar with a written complaint, alleging that the said public servant was demanding money in exchange for facilitating a power connection to his poultry farm, official said.
“After verifying the allegations and finding substance in the complaint, a trap was laid and the accused was caught red-handed in the presence of independent witnesses,” official said.
Following the incident, a case FIR No. 03/2025 under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) was registered at Police Station CBI ACB Srinagar, official added. (JKNS)
