Srinagar Police Raids Multiple Locations in UAPA Cases, Targets Terror Associates

Srinagar: Continuing its crackdown on terror associates and infrastructure, Srinagar Police on Saturday carried out extensive search operations at multiple locations in the city in connection with cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Police spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS that searches were conducted at the residences of several individuals linked to proscribed terrorist outfits and ongoing investigations in various police stations across the district.

They said the raids included the house of Imtiyaz Ahmad Parray, son of Gh Rasool Parray, a resident of Kalamdanpora, Zainakdal, who is involved in FIR No. 29/2005 under sections 7/25 of the Arms Act registered at Police Station M.R. Gunj, it reads.

Similarly, the residence of Arsh Koul, son of Ashiq Ahmad Koul from Dalal Mohalla Zainakdal, was searched in connection with FIR No. 35/2022 under sections 13, 18, 20, 23, 49 of the UAPA and section 7/25 of the Arms Act, statement reads.

Searches were also carried out at the residence of Mutaib Zahoor Bhat, son of Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, resident of Bilal Colony, Soura. He is involved in FIR No. 41/2021 under sections 13 of the UAPA and 188, 269 of the IPC registered at Police Station Soura, it reads.

Another raid was conducted at the home of Basit Ashraf Malik from Nowpora, Safakadal, involved in FIR No. 156/2024 under sections 13, 19, 39 of the UAPA, registered at Police Station Safakadal.

In addition, police searched the residence of Mohd Rafiq Shah, son of Noor Mohammad Shah, from Hazari Bazar, Rainawari, linked to FIR No. 48/2024 under sections 109 of the BNS and 13, 16, 19, 20, 39 of the UAPA at Police Station Khanyar, it reads.

According to officials, the searches were conducted under due legal procedure in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses. The operations were supervised by senior officers of J&K Police.

The objective of the searches was to seize arms, documents, digital devices, and other materials vital for evidence collection and intelligence gathering to prevent any conspiratorial or terror-related activity threatening national security.

Statement further reads, Police said this firm action is part of its broader effort to dismantle the terrorist ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir by legally targeting those involved in anti-national activities.

Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to ensuring peace and security in the city, warning that anyone found promoting violence or unlawful agendas will face strict legal consequences under the law, reads the statement. (JKNS)
