Srinagar, May 2 (JKNS): The Meteorological Department on Friday forecasted a spell of wet weather in Jammu and Kashmir starting from May 2, followed by a brief dry period and then another round of rain and thunder.

Talking to news agency JKNS, Director MeT Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad said, “From 2nd to 5th May, there is a possibility of brief spells of rain and thundershower at scattered places, accompanied by gusty winds.”

He said the weather is likely to remain “generally dry” between May 6 and 8. “From 9th to 11th May, fresh spells of rain, thunder and gusty winds are expected,” he added.

Issuing an advisory, the department said: “All concerned are advised to follow administrative and traffic advisories.”

“There is a possibility of intense thundershowers, thunder, lightning and gusty winds (40–50 km/h) at isolated to scattered places,” Dr. Mukhtar said.

He also advised farmers to plan accordingly. “Farmers are advised to continue farm operations from 6th May onwards,” he said. (JKNS
