Bhaderwah: District Administration Doda on Tuesday launched a comprehensive drive on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh and under the leadership of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah Sunil Bhutyal to address the growing issues of traffic violations and encroachments to manage the overall traffic scenario in Bhaderwah town.
The initiative saw the active participation of ASP Bhaderwah, SDPO Bhaderwah, Tehsildar Bhaderwah, EO Municipal Committee Bhaderwah, SHO Bhaderwah, and local traffic police. The objective of the drive was to ensure smooth vehicular movement and to improve pedestrian safety in the town.
While interacting with the media, the ADC Bhaderwah stated that the administration had been receiving numerous complaints from residents and commuters regarding unauthorized encroachments by shopkeepers, traffic congestion, and frequent violations of traffic rules.
In response, the district administration decided to launch a regular massive enforcement operation to streamline traffic flow and clear public spaces from illegal encroachments.
During the drive, a joint team of officials visited various market areas to assess the ground situation. Shopkeepers were directed to remove goods displayed on footpaths and public roads, which were creating obstructions for both pedestrians and vehicles.
The ADC emphasized that such practices not only cause inconvenience to the general public but also pose safety hazards and also contribute to traffic jams.
The administration cautioned that strict action against violators shall be taken in the future. Directions have been given to the Municipal Committee and Traffic Police to conduct regular inspections and impose penalties as well as take necessary action on those found breaching regulations.
The ADC also urged the public, vehicle owners and business owners to cooperate with the administration in maintaining order and ensuring Bhaderwah town remains clean, accessible, and safe for all.
