Poonch: The body of a man who drowned in the river near Vikram Singh Dehri in the Dara area of Poonch district was recovered on Saturday.

Officials told news agency JKNS that the deceased was a resident of Fazlabad who had slipped into the river on Friday evening under unknown circumstances. A joint rescue operation by SDRF and police was launched soon after the incident and continued through the night.

During the search operation, the body was located and retrieved from the river.

Cognizance of the incident has been taken, and further proceedings have been initiated, officials added. (JKNS)
