Srinagar, Apr 24 (JKNS): The J&K Students Association on Thursday raised alarm over a spate of threats and attacks against Kashmiri Muslim students across multiple Indian states, following the Pahalgam terror incident.

Nasir Khuehami, President of the Association, in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS said the situation has grown critical, with eight serious incidents reported so far, including open threats, hostel attacks, and forced displacements of students.

In one such case, Hindu Raksha Dal allegedly issued an ultimatum demanding Kashmiri Muslim students vacate Uttarakhand by 10 AM on Thursday, threatening to “pick them up one by one.” The association urged Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to act decisively to protect students.

In Dehradun, around 20 Kashmiri students from BFIT College reportedly fled to Jolly Grant Airport in fear after threats were issued to several colleges, the Association said.

Another grave incident was reported from the Universal Group of Institutions in Derabassi, Chandigarh, where Kashmiri students were attacked with sharp weapons inside the hostel at midnight. At least one student was seriously injured. The Association said the college security remained passive, and the Punjab Police did not provide timely protection. It urged Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann to take strict action and ensure student safety.

In Noida, a Kashmiri student at Amity University was allegedly brutally thrashed, the Association said, adding that more details would be shared shortly.

Meanwhile, a second open threat was allegedly issued in Uttarakhand by the Hindu Raksha Dal, calling for violence against Kashmiri Muslim students and chanting inflammatory slogans.

The J&K Students Association has urged all concerned state authorities, especially the Chief Ministers of Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, to intervene without delay to ensure the safety, dignity, and protection of Kashmiri students. (JKNS)
