Budgam: Residents of Sholipora in Budgam district have expressed serious concern over the halted construction of the Mirgund-Budgam to Arizal road, alleging that the ongoing project under PMGSY has been left incomplete for several months.

The road, spanning nearly 21 kilometers, is crucial for connectivity in multiple areas, yet large potholes and unfinished stretches have turned it into a daily hazard.

“We have no MLA, no MP — who do we even approach?” asked Bashir Ahmad, a local resident told news agency JKNS. “This road has become dangerous for school children and patients. The work started with promise, but now everything is at a standstill.”

Another resident, Shabir Hussain, said that despite repeated pleas, nothing has been done. “We urge the district administration to take this matter seriously. This road connects several major villages, and its condition is worsening every day.”

Speaking to JKNS, AEE PMGSY Budgam, Er Mohsin, said the department had applied for permission from the District Mineral Office (DMO) for lifting GSB material, but despite repeated follow-ups over four months, no action was taken.

“Recently, permission was finally granted in the Khag area, and our department will begin fixing the potholes and other issues within the next few days,” he assured. (JKNS)
